International Education Fair 2008 is the place where you will find many foreign education institutions that show case their facilities, courses and other information for admission. Students aspiring to get admission from the participating institutions can interact with the respective representatives in the fair. The fair will be held for two days at the Taj Connemara Hotel, Chennai during the weekend i.e., on Friday and Saturday, 13th and 14th June 2008. The event is sponsored by State Bank of India.
The fair will be inaugurated by the Editor-in-Chief of The Hindu, Mr. N. Ram, who will witness the participation of education representatives from countries across the world. Premium institutes and consultants from the UK, Australia, the USA, Singapore, Dubai, New Zealand, Canada and the Philippines will set up stalls to inform students about career options available overseas. State Bank of India is also expected to set up a special stall on both days to inform students and parents about its various education loan schemes that can help finance education abroad.
Some of the popular institutions namely The University of Leeds (UK), the University of Warwick (UK), London Metropolitan University (UK), the University of Wollongong (Dubai), Dubai Aerospace Enterprise University (Dubai), Stansfield College (Singapore) are participating in this fair. Following are the areas of specialisation that students can look for in the fair - Engineering, medicine, design, media, management, arts and fashion, aquaculture and marine, tourism and hospital management.
Counselling sessions, country familiarisation workshops and visa counselling will be organised by representatives from the British Council, Singapore Education board and IDP Australia. The radio Partner for the event is Radio One. Gift gift partner is I-ads and I-care events.

Govt. of India announced the hike in petrol price on 4th June 2008, following the soaring price of crude oil in the international market. The hike announced has made the petrol and diesel costlier by Rs.5.00 and Rs.3.00 respectively. As usual many newspapers and politicians started debating the components of the petrol price and finally Central Govt. recommended the state governments to reduce the sales tax to reduce the burden on the common man.
