Panagal Park Flyover getting delayed

The new flyover connecting the T Nagar bus stand along the South Usman road on an elevated path till new GRT Showroom on the North Usman road is built across the Panagal Park junction just in front of Lalitha Jewellery and new (Birammandamai) Saravana Store as shown in this picture. This work was also started along with North Usman road flyover but some how Panagal Park work is getting delayed. There seems to be a plan to connect this Panagal Park flyover to GN Chetty road flyover but work on GN Chetty road is still in preliminary stages that no pillars are even seen there. While Panagal Park flyover has been built up to pillar level, North Usman Road flyover connecting Mahalingapuram across Kodambakkam high road is nearing finish

North Usman Road Flyover

A flyover connecting the North Usman road to Mahalingapuram across the Kodambakkam High Road was started about 6 months ago. Within this short period, work has come to near completion that only the side walls are under construction as shown in the picture. This picture was shot while riding in an autorickshaw from T. Nagar to Kodambakkam. State minister MK Stalin son of CM Karunanidhi visited the flyover recently and took a walk over it to oversee the work in progress. We can expect the flyover to be opened for public by April 14th.

Chennai House Rental due for further hike

Chennai residents occupying rental houses may get ready for further hike in rent due to the recent announcement by State Government of Tamilnadu to increase the property tax with effect from April 2008. The proposed increase would be in the range of 25% for residential properties, 100% for Industrial establishments and 150% for commercial buildings. The GO has provided detailed guidelines for the valuation of the properties and included even the vacant land properties in the revision. The revision is applicable to entire Tamilnadu with valuation guidelines as applicable to respective region and type of property. The entire process is planned get completed by June 2008.
The bottom line is that every individual house owner, business owner and tenant should realign their budget to meet this additional expense from April 2008 onwards.
